About this tour
A 13-day semi-assisted trekking journey through the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. Starting in Bishkek, we combine cultural visits with multi-day hikes that link the high pastures of Son Kol, the alpine lakes of Kol Ukok and Kol Tor, and the dramatic glacial basin of Ala-Kul near Karakol. At the end of each stage we sleep in carefully chosen local accommodation and yurt camps: places that are comfortable and welcoming, but still rooted in everyday Kyrgyz life rather than mass tourism.
The itinerary is designed for active travelers, and we adjust pace, distances and support to the fitness level and experience of each private group. We can shape the journey for strong hikers, slower walkers, mixed groups of friends or families who want to discover the country on foot without losing safety, authenticity or basic comfort.

Itinerary
The trip begins in Bishkek with a first look at the city’s Soviet avenues, markets and main monuments before heading towards the mountains. On the way to Koshkor we visit the historic Burana Tower and prepare equipment for the trek. From Kyzart or Kilemche the hike towards Son Kol unfolds over two days, crossing wide valleys and a mountain pass to reach the lake and its ring of yurts at more than 3,000 m. After a full day sharing life with nomad families, the route descends by a different, panoramic trail back to Koshkor and continues on foot up the glacial valley to Kol Ukok, with an excursion to the higher viewpoints around Kol Tor before returning again to Koshkor.
From there, the journey shifts east by road to Karakol, where we explore nearby valleys on day hikes and tackle the most demanding stage: the ascent to the Ala-Kul glacial lake and, if conditions allow, the high pass above it before driving back to town. The final days are spent along the shores of Issyk-Kul, with time to rest or take short walks, before returning to Bishkek and catching the flight home. Throughout the trip, pace and support are adjusted to the group so that both more experienced hikers and less seasoned walkers can enjoy the route safely.
